What I'm Listening To [6] Kagu - Human

I've been really enjoying this song by Kagu lately - every time it comes up in my Spotify playlist I'm reminded of how much I love it. Kagu is the new project of Sean Heathcliff who was one of the singers from Snakadaktal before they split up, which is why the vocals may sound familiar. I'm loving the dreamy, relaxed vibes on his new EP and would definitely recommend giving some of the other songs a listen too.

What have you been listening to recently? Let me know!

All About My Skin

This post is going to be resource I can refer you back to whenever I review any skincare products. It's important to remember that we all have different skin types and the products which suit my skin type and work best for me could be ineffective or even detrimental to your skin. I'm going into a bit more detail about the history of my skin and my skin type, which will hopefully give you a bit more insight into why I like the products that I do and how they work for my skin.

A (kind of) Brief History of My Skin

I consider myself to be somewhat lucky when it comes to my skin's appearance and health (although the 14 year old version of myself may disagree). Even as a teenager I never suffered with severe acne, most of the time I had some small bumps on my forehead, which never came to a head, and some bigger breakouts on my chin. The first blackheads on my nose also started to appear at this time.

Going on the pill at 16 really changed the appearance of my skin and helped clear up the small bumps on my forehead as well as reducing the severity of the other breakouts I had.  After switching from the pill to a contraceptive implant a while later I noticed my skin returning to what I would describe as its 'natural state'; although I started getting a few more breakouts again, overall my skin was a lot clearer. I would just like to note that would not necessarily recommend going on the pill to clear up your skin. My thoughts on the pill have changed dramatically since I used it as a teenager. This could be a whole post in itself, one that I would be happy to write if you're interested in hearing my thoughts and experience.

On another important side note, I have a lot of food allergies. Discovering what they are and avoiding them has also made a dramatic difference in my skin's appearance. This could also be a whole post on its own, one that I am definitely planning on writing in the future.

My Skin Type and Problem Areas

Generally speaking I would describe my skin type as being normal, with it tending to be slightly oilier over summer and slightly drier in winter. I usually switch up my skincare throughout the year dependant on how my skin is feeling and what it needs.

I am fairly lucky in that I rarely suffer any major breakouts. Around that time of the month I tend to get some more congestion around my chin area but I only get a pimple popping up every now and then. My biggest issue with my skin are the large pores and blackheads on my nose and chin - I have been working on conquering these since my teenage years! The other issue I have with my skin is uneven texture and tone; I have some areas of scarring, and some redness around my nose and mouth.

So this is what I'm working with when I'm testing out skincare products for a review. The products I choose to try out and my experience with them is based solely on how they work for my skin. I hope this post has been helpful in giving you some context for my skincare reviews and to make it easier for you to determine if the product is right for your own skin.

Please leave any questions you have in the comments and I will get back to you!

Romwe Wish List

Here's some of the items that are currently in my Romwe shopping bag. I'm constantly browsing through all their clothing and accessory pieces -  they always have amazing 'on-trend' items and a huge variety of different styles that are also really affordable. They also do free shipping when you spend over $50 - woop!

The online shopping addiction is real.

Autumn-Winter Street Style Inspiration

IMAGE SOURCES: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

I could browse street style blogs for hours. They are one of my favourite sources of outfit and style inspiration - I turn to them whenever I feel like I have nothing to wear, despite my overstuffed wardrobe! Here's a few images I've compiled for some Autumn-Winter style inspiration. Although it has been getting chillier here in Melbourne, we've still had a few warm days here and there, so I've included some outfits that could work for those days too.

Let me know what your favourite street style blogs are in the comments!

Super Skin Care Duo by Formula 10.0.6

My first encounter with the Formula 10.0.6 brand came back when I was in my early teenage years. My favourite magazine at the time was Dolly and it was in one of the issues that I came across a sample of their blackhead clearing mud mask. After my first trial of this product I was in love, purchasing the full size shortly afterwards - this was probably one of the first skincare products I bought for myself.

Recently I decided to revisit the brand and picked up the Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser ($9.99 AUD) and Pores Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask ($8.99 AUD) duo. Once again, Formula 10.0.6 have not disappointed!

The cleanser worked like a dream for me over the summer months, dealing with my oilier skin texture but never being overly drying. using it with my face cleansing brush left my skin feeling fresh and super smooth. Following up with the mud mask really helped to deep clean my skin, getting down into my pores and pulling out any excess oil and impurities. This mask feels tingly and warm when applied - this settles down after a few minutes and is completely normal. After rinsing off the blackheads on my nose are much less noticeable and my skin also feels lovely and soft. While I wont be reaching for the mud mask as often over winter (when my skin tends to be drier) it was perfect for controlling any oiliness I was experiencing over the summer.

If you haven't already tried any products by Formula 10.0.6 I would definitely recommend giving them a go! In my experience I have loved how they worked on my skin and they have a range of different products for different skin problems.

Formula 10.0.6 is available at Priceline and Big W stores in Australia. If you're international you can click here to find your closest stockist or buy online.

Have you tried any products by Formula 10.0.6? What did you think?

February/March Post Recap

Video: Empties #2

February and March have been a couple of strange months for me. Not only have I been insanely busy with Uni and work - both which I was completely unprepared for - but my creative juices have pretty much dried up recently (okay, that sounds gross, I'm sorry). I think it's probably just a side effect of being completely stressed out by life, so I'm hoping that once I get on top of all my work things will start feeling a little better again. Having said that I love hearing your feedback and suggestions, so if you have any please leave them in the comments!

I hope you've all had a lovely month and are looking forward to relaxing this long weekend!
